Collective Agreement (CA)

The collective agreement (CA) in Metal and Electronical Industries is a written agreement covering working conditions such as working hours, wages, bonuses, payment of overtime, trial and notice periods and pensions.

CA-provisions are often more favourable than statutory provisions. Wage levels are usually higher than the minimum wage, and the number of holidays greater than the legal minimum.
CA's may never contain provisions sanctioning wage levels below the legal minimum and less holidays than stated in the Civil Code.

Our CA's are concluded between employers’ organisation FME and trade unions FNV Bondgenoten, CNV Vakmensen, De Unie and VHP2.
They are sector-based and state precisely which employers and which types of work fall within its scope (‘werkingssfeer’). The Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment has extended this scope to the entire sector. This means that employers and employees who do not belong to any of the parties in the agreement must also comply.
